This sculptural ceramic bottle depicts a man with a maimed foot. His face has scarifications with symbols. In Moche art, personages with mutilated feet are represented as guardians or protectors of the tombs of high ranking personages. Mutilation of the foot also is related to poisoning suffered metallurgists who have been exposed during their lifetime to gases and other toxic substances. (UH)

Esta botella escultórica de cerámica representa a un hombre con pie mutilado. Su rostro presenta escarificaciones con símbolos. En el arte Mochica, se representa a personajes con pies mutilados como guardianes o protectores de las tumbas de personajes de alto rango. También la mutilación del pie está relacionada al envenenamiento que sufren metalurgos que han estado expuestos durante su vida al contacto con gases y otras sustancias tóxicas. (UH)
