This page depicts both a peaceful deity and a wrathful one. On the left is Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, who holds a weapon with which he fights ignorance: the sword of wisdom. On the right is the wrathful Buddha Vajrapani, who holds a vajra—a symbol of stability, firmness, and indestructibility—in his raised hand and makes a threatening gesture with the hand in front of his belly.
