The ebony statuettes of Amenhotep, high priest of the temple at Karnak, and his wife the priestess Renai, are outstanding specimens of New Kingdom art. The figure of Amenhotep suggests restraint and will-power. The image of "singer to the god Amon" is delightfully feminine. The elongate proportions, smooth silhouette and gesture of the hand pressed figurine a refined elegance.
